 Art Scheme of Work  - Year 5
Summer Term - ( Flowering Plants ) 
Drawing and Painting 
Purpose:	- use primary colours, and black and white, to mix a full range 
	  of hues and tones.	
	- experience looking at and talking about the work of other artists
	   to demonstrate a knowledge of geme and style. 
Task:    - to experiment with different coloured backgrounds to see which 
	 colours give strong contrast. 
Activity:	1) Look at a range of material (photos and paintings) particularly 
	    Monet's garden pictures. Discuss what artists is trying to tell 
	    audience and how we can find which backgrounds give best 
	    contrast to paint. 
	2) Children choose from a selection of coloured backgrounds 
	     within group. 
	3) Using green pastel create effects of foliage. 
	4) With upright brush apply red and white paint allowing mixing 
	    of colours. 
	5) When dry establish which background gives best contrast. 
	6) Display in a "Monet Corner". 
Assessment: - do they understand artistic language of activity?
