 Art Scheme of Work Year 6
Summer Term - ( Writing and Printing ) 
Printmaking 
Purpose:	- make a more complex printing block by applying 
		     card, string, wool. 
Task:     - make a repeating pattern using a card block. 
Activity:	1) Choose a letter or short word to cut out in thick card 
	     (grocery box thickness). Embellish with string patter stuck 
	      onto card. 
	2) Place under a piece of thinnish paper and rub with crayon 
	     or pastel. 
	    Make a repeating pattern, overlapping to create new effects. 
	3) Display 
Assessment: - is the block cut accurately? 
Collage 
Purpose:	   - plan and produce their own collage, choosing, cutting, 
	     arranging and applying materials focusing on colour, shape, 
	     texture and pattern. 
Task:      - using newsprint cut into letter shapes and letters cut from 
	     magazines create an animal or bird. 
Activity:    1) Cut a selection of letters from newsprint and magazines. 
	   2) Draw an outline of an animal or bird on a sheet of paper. 
                3) Arrange letters within outline starting with focal point 
		 (e.g. eye of fish ) and work away from it. 
	   4) Display in groups.	
Assessment: - can the children explain how and why they made collage? 
	     - have they used colour and print appropriately?
